Milk Does A Body Good

Milk Does A Body Good

Recently my doctor told me that I need to lower my cholesterol within 6 months or I will be placed on a maintenance pill to assist me. After only 30+ years on this Earth, I do not intend to be placed on any type of maintenance medication. I thought when I stopped eating beef and pork almost 15 years ago that I could avoid the heart disease that plagues both sides of my family. Now, I’m not light as a feather and have indulged in my share of fried foods and sweets. I love sour cream and salted butter. Over the past 15 years and 2 pregnancies since I gave up beef and pork, I’ve fluctuated in gaining between 30-50 pounds. Whoa! Writing those numbers down is a little devastating, but I can only blame me for allowing myself to gain that much weight. Because of this I have decided to change my lifestyle.

I’ve been on several fad diets over the years such as shakes, 3 day military diet, lemonade diet, detox diets, etc. I’m pretty good following the different rules short-term, but after awhile I would lose sight of the goal. I have a vision board with positive affirmations, weight goal, and how much I’ve loss. Before I gave up on that, I’d lost 10 lbs. Since I’ve gained back 8.5. Sometimes I’ve wondered what is it going to take for me to get healthy and maintain a healthy weight? Most of the time, I have varied answers, but that typically ends with an excuse for the day.

Until now. My motivation is completely restored. I am absolutely horrible with taking pills daily. Birth control pills? Yeah right. I even had a daily timer and still couldn’t stay on track. Cholesterol pills would be detrimental to my life, so for a permanent failsafe I will eliminate the need. Another motivation was watching this video of 77 year old Ernestine Shepherd. She is a bodybuilder and fitness instructor.

Now, after seeing this video what excuse can I use now? Keeping it all the way real, I have consistency issues and a vein disease that causes chronic pain. But again, she’s 77 and I’m 32. If she ran in my 5k in April she would smoke me and I would be embarrassed. After dealing with the leg thing for over 15 years, I know certain exercises will cause more pain. Really, I just need to think of the greater good and not be so selfish to the better me.

I have a toddler who can have a mother adventurous and capable enough to do whatever she wants me to do. I can feel amazing in my clothes without the aid of shapers or waist trainers. I told my semi-conservative husband that when l reach my goal I’ll be prancing around butter ball naked every moment I can. He won’t stand a chance. I don’t wear footie pj’s or anything remotely close to that now, but when he comes downstairs and I’m cooking his breakfast naked…. I’m just saying. Lol.

Anywho, I’ve now been on this journey for a few weeks and I’ve lost 8 lbs. Everyday I eat breakfast, drink a green smoothie at least once a day, eat smaller portions, eat healthy snacks like the fruit cup I posted previously, exercise via youtube and various apps including the 30 day challenge app, drink lots of water and green tea, follow healthy and fitness posts on various social media sites, etc. I’ve eliminated some bad habits and replaced bad fats with good ones. As you can see, I’m not following one thing. And you know what, that works for me. This is about changing my life and the various elements are aiding me in becoming consistent. I should’ve recognized this year’s ago, but I don’t like routines. I surprise myself by cooking different healthy recipes from various cooks or cookbooks. I make up my own green smoothies and use others recipes. As I work out, I found out my daughter loves it too. Check her out!

Last year, my friends and I participated in the Dirty Girl 5k Mud Run Atlanta. We had so much fun and got so dirty. I didn’t run much because my shins were hurting and they say you don’t have to train in preparation for this day.Thankfully, I had already taken pain meds, so my vein issue didn’t bother me so much. I was late so I had to run to catch up with my group. I was out of breath and wished every hill we encountered would die. This year, I intend for my experience to be completely different. I will begin a 5k training program on March 1st that is laid out in the Nike+ Running app. I’m super stoked about it. Here are a couple pics from last year.

Have you too found yourself wanting to make a change, but can’t stick with it? In your process, what did you find successful and what was challenging? Did you go back to it? Any fitness pros out there that would like to share any tips? Feel free to comment.

How To De-Invite Your Parents to Your Wedding

Did anyone else see this article?

A girl in Australia sent her parents a de-invitation to her wedding because she said for years they abused her before she ran away from home at 16.

She put together an actual invitation on special paper and mailed it to them.

Here’s the actual copy….

deinvitation

She snapped!  LOL

I would not have said anything to them at all but this apparently brought joy to her little heart to know they were anxiously awaiting it and opened it to read these horrible words.

She better be careful, they can find out where she’s getting married and do horrible things to still ruin her big day.  Other relatives can ruin it on their behalf.  You never know.

It’s funny none-the-less.

Commercial Horror Story

You ever come in on a commercial already in progress?

I come in the room and there is a commercial showing fresh veggies like tomatoes, carrots, and chicken for a new soup or something.

fancy feast broth

Then, they show the soup all put together and it’s unbelievable with chunks and chunks of chicken and veggies.

fancy feast broth2

It really grabs my attention instantly because the broth is thick like I like it and the veggies are all things I love in my soups.

All of a sudden, they show a dayum CAT licking the soup out of the bowl!

It’s a freakin FANCY FEAST commercial!!!!!!!!

I was so upset because that soup looked like something from Progresso.

DAYUUUUMM YOU FANCY FEEEEEEEEEASSSSSSSTTTTTTT!

Biography courtesy of lva.virginia.gov

The year 2012 marks the bicentennial of John Jasper (July 4, 1812–March 30, 1901), who was born into slavery in Fluvanna County. After being sent to Richmond to work in a tobacco factory, in 1839 he experienced a religious conversion in Capitol Square. A fellow slave helped him learn to read and write, and Jasper began studying the Bible. He soon became a well-known preacher and traveled around Virginia for twenty years, most often preaching funeral sermons for other slaves. He regularly traveled to Petersburg to lead services at Third Baptist Church.

After the Civil War and emancipation, Jasper established Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church, in Richmond. His dynamic leadership had attracted about 2,500 members by 1887, and the church served as a center of religious life in the Jackson Ward neighborhood. He established a Sunday school, and the church also provided social services to help the indigent, young, old, and infirm.

In 1878 Jasper first delivered the sermon for which he became most famous, “The Sun Do Move,” in which he expounded on his belief in the fundamental truth of the Bible and the power of God. His dramatic speaking style and vivid imagery attracted national attention, and he gave his sermon in cities throughout the eastern United States for many years. Jasper continued to preach at his church until a few days before his death at age eighty-eight.

When Will They Learn???

When Will They Learn???

When will certain high salary making men learn that some women only want one thing?  Ok, maybe 2 things but mainly 1.  Money hunny!

Just like an engineer is meant to engineer things, a teacher is meant to teach, and a police officer is meant to serve and protect, there are leagues of women in this world that make it their business to catch a man that has a lot of money.

They have a formula and I don’t know why some of these athletes and business men don’t see the game yet.  Women are crafty.  Women can smile in your face and tell you that you are the onlyest one and after you leave another dude is coming through the back door.  I’m just saying.  I’ve seen it happen before.

I live in Atlanta, not born in Georgia, just live here.  I was raised riiiite from what I believe or my family just has different morals, I don’t know.  My mom always told me she just wanted me to have more than what she had and to do more than what she did.  She never said, go out there and get you a rich man, have some babies for him, and lock down your retirement.  It was always about love with me but not these dry mouth, wretched females I see more of these days.

It’s one thing to want a man that can hold his weight but if you lead in on the first encounter with “how much do you make a year?”, back up and ask him his name first, dayum!

So, the point of this post is a story I heard about Tyrese.  I love me some chocolate, singing about Coca-Cola on the bus, transformer fighting, sweet lady singing, Tyrese!  He was recently on a date with a dry mouth and something happened to his phone so he asked to use hers.  Do you know that when he went to her internet browser she had googled him and his net worth!!!???  It was reportedly $25 million by the way but this was still up on her phone on their date!!!!!!!!!!!!!  From what I heard, he got up and just left her there.  Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!  Do you have to be that thirsty?  You know he probably picked her up so she was looking this up right before he picked her up at home or while he was driving to the restaurant.  Tsk tsk dry mouth.  That’s why you got left.  I’m just glad he found out sooner than after the first ultrasound for the quadruplets.  LMAO

This tickled me pink, I promise it did.  It’s sad but unfortunately, at that level, you gotta run a background check on these folks and really get to know them before getting serious.  Either that or they can just recycle a woman that they already know has money from another celebrity guy so they won’t have to worry about her needing too much from them.  LOL

Ooooh that sip was cold but you know it’s true like!

🙂 Phee

G’s to Gents Alum Attempts Suicide

G’s to Gents Alum Attempts Suicide

Here’s another sip from reality tv.

Kesan Moore was on the famous G’s to Gents show where Fonzworth Bentley transformed G”s (gangstas, thugs, misfits) into distinguished gentlemen.  I loved the show honestly because it taught the men on the show a lot of growth and showed them how they can have more than what they are around, they just have to take that leap of faith and wanna make that change.  This is where I was introduced to the infamous Riff Raff also.

Kesan acted a fool on the show.  He actually got into it with cast mates and even had an irrational outburst where he was running from the mansion in footies if I remember correctly.  LOL.

Anywho, after the show, he attempted music for a second but he was arrested for child abuse.  Not just any old kind of child abuse, he allegedly broke both of his infant daughter’s arms, leg, 3 ribs and her collarbone, plus she had bruising everywhere (abuse info from straightfromthea.com).

I don’t know how but he eventually landed in movies like ATL (he was the boy who got his butt whopped by Big Boi for stealing money), tv shows like Meet the Browns and then he even had a spot on the hit show “The Walking Dead”.

Here recently though, his grandmother passed and he fell into a depression it seems and attempted suicide via Xanax and Patron.  TMZ said he even recorded a suicide video informing relatives of why he was doing what he was doing.

I hope Kesan’s finds an inner piece soon.  Death is so hard but we gotta keep our heads up and live for those that depend on us especially when you have kids, eventhough some of them are mean to us.

Real Passes Away

Real Passes Away

All reality nuts remember Flavor Flav looking for love and finding it partially with New York (Tiffany).  Then it didn’t work out so New York got her own spin-off show where she had two suitors, brothers, to try and win her love.  Those brothers Chance and Real then got their own spin-off show.  They were known off camera as the Stallionaires and did music for awhile.  I was in love with Real.  He was a beautiful man.  I would not have wanted to share my hair products with him though.  His hair was better than mine.

I’m so, so sad to report that Real (Ahmad Givens) passed away from cancer at the age of 33!  When he found out about the colon cancer it was stage 4 already.  It’s sad to me because cancer doesn’t have an age.  I talk to bunches and bunches of people everyday about health and benefits and some people are just clueless about how cancer, heart attacks, or strokes can affect any age group.

Remember my post about Leah Still?  She’s only 4 and has cancer.  I’ve even seen stories about teenagers passing away from having heart attacks and 30-year-olds having strokes.  It’s happening all around us every day!

My thoughts and prayers go out to Ahmad Givens’ family, especially to his bro we all know as Chance.
