After my recent misadventure in DIY hair coloring, I’m happy to see someone who accomplished color successfully. I have at least one of those colors going on in my head right now. Lol.

That is one beautifully, curly, and textured updo. That is a definite date night hairstyle.

Watch “Special Report – ‘Going Natural'” on YouTube

Watch “Special Report – ‘Going Natural'” on YouTube

A few months back, I was considering doing the big chop just to start over with my already natural hair. According to UrbanDictionary.com, the Big Chop or ‘BC’ is when a person cuts their hair to obtain the ‘natural’ state. The person cuts out the hair dye, chemical perm, or relaxer from their hair. My decision wouldn’t affect anyone except my husband. 🙂 For tv personalities or entertainers, the decision to make a big chop could actually affect their careers. Transitioning to a naturalista today is definitely more common and “accepted” on the surface than it was even 5 years ago, but there are certain perceptions that you will now be aligned with if you decide to go natural. Discrimination is real. The story below showcases the journey of a news reporter and a mother who make the decision to do the big chop.
