I’m back with my jam for Wednesday!
This one comes from my girl Sevyn Streeter and Chris Brown called “Don’t Kill The Fun”. I think they make a really good song couple.
It just gets me groove when it comes on and I feel like dancing a little bit while I’m sitting in my car in traffic.
Enjoy!

I love me some old school hip hop. This just so happens to be one of my favorites. When I’m listening to Bonita Applebum by A Tribe Called Quest, I then have to play Slick Rick’s, A Teenage Love and LL Cool J’s, I Need Love. Each of these artists knew the right words to say to make a girl swoon. They were also great lyricists and told great stories. I miss hip hop like that. The Roots, Nas, Dilated Peoples, Wale, and Kendrick Lamar fit in with them perfectly. Anywho, enjoy my jam, Bonita Applebum!

Hi Cocoa Drops.
I have a serious issue to draw your attention to.
With the increase of cell phone usage and abandonment of having landlines in the home, it is sometimes difficult for 9-1-1 operators to know where a person is when they make an urgent call for help. Last night there was an expose on 11Alive about this exact subject. I found their article I want you to read when you get a chance at the bottom of this post.
Basically, you have to be sitting under a cell phone tower for them to be able to pick up your location but they can still be wrong about where you are. The reporter in the expose literally called the 9-1-1 call center while IN THE call center and they picked up his location down the street somewhere! He was in the building and they couldn’t pick up his location. SMH
Here in Alpharetta, GA,(outlined in the article) a lady was driving in the wee hours of the morning delivering newspapers and she ran off the road into a pond of water. She called 9-1-1 on her cell and told the dispatcher exactly where she was with the name of the street and everything but they could not locate her. I was like, why can’t they use Google maps? Google maps is accurate as all get out. I’ve found my boyfriends every time I track them off google maps. LOL. I’m kidding.? Seriously though, the 9-1-1 center could’ve used Google but she just didn’t and I was so upset to find this out because one little decision could have saved a life. Isn’t that what 9-1-1 is here for? The article says the call center is discouraged from using the app since it’s not linked to their computer software but sometimes you have to do what you have to do, point blank PERIOD! What, are you going to get fired for saving someone? If I were in the family, I’d have Gloria Allred on the line and sue the call center immediately for something that can be coordinated and should be for everyone.
Personally, I had a similar issue when I lived in Birmingham, AL. I called 9-1-1 from my home but I got routed to the call center based on the county I pay 9-1-1 taxes to, not where I actually lived at the time. I got transferred 2 times and finally to the right county but if I had a serious, serious emergency, I might have been dead by the time they got to me.
I always wondered why we can’t text 9-1-1 but during my research I found out that there IS text to 9-1-1 available in certain areas. In order for us to be able to text 9-1-1 there have to be stations called Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) set up and they are not everywhere yet. Click this link and go to “available here” to download the spreadsheet of the PSAPs to see if you have one nearby http://www.fcc.gov/text-to-911 . This will be great for all areas because then you can alert the police without putting the phone to your ear or if you can’t talk, its even better! This website gives a lot of information regarding text to 9-1-1 and the progress it’s making in the United States.
Either way, we still need to address the need for 9-1-1 call centers to accurately pinpoint a person in need within a reasonable response time when they use their mobile device or computer.

When you get into the 10th month of pregnancy, it can be extremely difficult and miserable. My daughter kicked the shiznit outta of me and I literally would just look at my stomach and watch her doing the cupid shuffle, can’t wang wit it, and bunny hop all wrapped in one and cry during the last 4 weeks of her incubation period.
Jessica Biel is wearing pregnancy so well. Stars make me sick how they look so good or they blow up like a cow like Kim Kardashian, then lose it in 30 days like that’s how real life is and it ain’t! I was a cow when I was preggers with both my bundles of joy. So, I’m just a little jelly bean about how good Jessica looks.
I can’t wait to see what they name their baby. I hope it’s not something dumb or difficult to pronounce or spell like Catypulta, Loyola, or Vandalista. LOL. I made all those up by the way.

Here is another celebrity that I’m jelly bean over looking so fabs post twins.
Zoe Saldana is my girl. If you’ve never seen Columbiana, you haven’t lived yet. She is amazing in that movie.
However, 2 or 3 freakin months ago she had twin boys, Cy and Bowie. Who looks this good after twins? Better yet, who looks this good after twins after 2 or 3 months of having them? Zoe, that’s who!!!!
The pics below are from Sunday at the Oscars. The second pic is with her sexy, fine husband Marco. If I were her, I’d be preggers again. I wouldn’t be able to get off. hee hee
You go Zoe. Lots of love to you and your family!!!!!
P.S. Love those new boobs. Pregnancy can sometimes give you things you need. No shade, Ijs.

The life of Vivien Thomas is an inspiring story of an African-American pioneer who overcame the barriers imposed by a segregated society. With no formal medical training, he developed techniques and tools that would lead to today’s modern heart surgery. In operating rooms all over the world, great surgeons who received their training from Vivien Thomas are performing life-saving surgical procedures. We honor his legacy with the naming of the Vivien Thomas High School Research Program at the MSM. The Vivien Thomas Research Program for high school students was established to provide experiences in the research laboratories at the MSM. Students conduct research for six weeks under the direction of a medical school faculty member and learn the content, process and methodology involved in inquiry science. At the end of this summer experience, students present their research findings to the faculty and staff at MSM.
Vivien T. Thomas was born in New Iberia, Louisiana on August 29, 1910. His family later moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he was educated in the public schools. In 1929, after working as an orderly in a private infirmary to raise money for college, he enrolled as a premedical student at Tennessee Agricultural and Industrial College. The bank crash that year wiped out his life’s savings, forcing him to drop out of school.
In 1930, he took a position at Vanderbilt University as a laboratory assistant with Alfred Blalock. Thomas’ abilities as a surgical assistant and research associate were of the highest quality, and when Blalock moved to Johns Hopkins in 1941 he asked Thomas to accompany him. Thomas joined Blalock’s surgical team and helped to develop the procedure used in the “blue baby” operation. He helped train many of the surgeons at Johns Hopkins in the delicate techniques necessary for heart and lung operations.
Thomas was a member of the medical school faculty from 1976 until 1985 and was presented with the degree of Honorary Doctor of Laws by the Johns Hopkins University in 1976. Today, in operating rooms all over the world, there are great surgeons performing life saving surgical procedures who received their training from Vivien Thomas. His achievements stand as a testament to the power of research, discovery, and persistence to improve the health of generations to come, a legacy we honor with the naming of the Vivien Thomas High Summer Research Program at MSM.
At 2:30am, I get out of the shower and proceed down the hall to check on my toddler to make sure she is asleep. Unfortunately, she is a night owl just like her parents. I actually work from home and my office is next door to her bedroom. During the day, I keep various snacks on my desks to nibble on. For about a year now, my daughter has been afraid of the dark. I mean, she freaks out if her nightlight or tv isn’t on in her room at night.
Anyway, imagine my surprise when I run into this chick coming out of my office with 2 wheat crackers in her hand. My office is pitch black. She’s not freaking out at all. Has she been playing us for a year just to keep her tv on at night? Hmmmmm. Then she tells me, I wanted some crackers and takes a bite. Sometimes these kids make you wanna just scream. You gotta love ‘ em!
Share your crazy kids story! I can’t be the only one out here with a “curious” child. Lol.

While perusing Facebook today, I came across a rather intriguing post. It’s still kind of a taboo subject, but the title of the buzzfeed.com video is What’s Up With Eating Ass? Yes, it is exactly what you’re thinking. The video consists of interviews in a very chit chat, laid back, energized, and hilarious manner. The conversations were so comfortable you’d think they were discussing how to bake your grandma’s famous poundcake. Lol. Check it out and let me know your thoughts!!!
