One Way Ticket to Mars

One Way Ticket to Mars

I just saw on the news how the mission to Mars, the planet, is underway.

The news agent was asking who would sign up for a one way ticket to Mars.

Hmmmmmm, let me think of my top ten for who would sign up for that one way ticket.

1.  Anyone who owes the IRS a substantial sum of money.
2.  All those dads who owe back child support.
3.  All of us past students with them big student loans.
4.  Insurance Agents

A world wouldn’t be a world without an insurance agent.  LOL
5.  IRS Agent

The IRS has to take their percentage of whatever you get on Mars like they do here in the United States.

6.  Prostitute+1 (her pimp)

Let’s be honest, a planet full of people and no sex makes for a very grumpy planet.  LOL

7.  That annoying, talking person that is on every reality show.

8.  Anderson Cooper

Someone has to let us know what’s going on on the planet everyday or every week.

9. A Doctor

Their going to need someone to pronounce people dead every month because we are not supposed to live on Mars.  LOL

10.  A Groundhog

Whose going to let them know when spring is coming other than a groundhog?  hee hee

I mean what kind of currency do you use on Mars?  Mars bucks, Mars reward dollars, or what about Mbucks?  LOL.  There’s nothing there so what are these people going to do?  I don’t think they have a Lowe’s on Mars to be able to build stuff.  Is there water, humans need water to live.  What about when someone accidentally punctures their suit?  Do they blow up like on the Total Recall movie?  What will they eat?  Are they going to make the people reproduce a create true Martians?!  LMAO.  Will they take guns to fend off the transformers?  LOL

As you can see, I have a lot of questions about this mission.  There are people who are signing up that have families, fiances, etc.  They are literally ok with leaving that all behind.  They say the trip is going to take like 7 months.  7 months travel?  No one has done this so they might not even survive.  This is just wild.  I guess some mommas won’t be lying when they say, “baby your daddy went to Mars and he’s never coming back”.  LMAO!

What are your thoughts on the matter?

U.S. Man Arrested For Facebook Post About his U.A.E. Employer

I don’t know when people are going to learn that Facebook can ruin your life.  I see everyday how people go on Facebook and just chronicle their whole lives for the world to see and just say anything.  You cannot do that!  When you apply for a job, employers are doing more than background checks.  I work in Human Resources and recruiters literally go online and google you and if your social media pages are public, OMG, they can make a decision on hiring you based on some of that stuff alone.  If you’re posting half naked, drinking, and smoking pics, or colorful language posts, all of it can be used against you.  Heaven forbid, you have an all out argument with someone about a man or a woman on Facebook.  I’ve seen it all which is hilarious and people are just going to have to learn one by one.  It is free speech BUT people can base opinions off of you and that’s not against the law unless you can prove it somehow.

This guy from Florida is learning that his free speech post was looked at by his employer right now.  He lives in the United States but works over in the U.A.E.  While he was on leave, he took to Facebook and make some bad remarks about his employer which is illegal in the U.A.E.  Eventhough he is a U.S. citizen, he has employment with the U.A.E. employer and is held to the rules of their land.  He is basically facing 5 years in prison over there and it’s his own fault.

Check the story out and tell me what you think about it.

Woman jumps from window of St. Pete home with 7-year-old child – WSPA.com

Woman jumps from window of St. Pete home with 7-year-old child – WSPA.com

This story is amongst several stories that we hear on the news daily about parents harming their own children. Parents are drowning their children, stabbing them, beating them to death, throwing them off buildings and bridges, etc. It is so sad to hear about the loss of innocent lives. This lady appears to be suffering from a mental illness, but I have to believe that so are the others. What mother or father in their right mind would harm their own child? Thankfully, this little boy survived the fall, but will live with this for the rest of his life. This must stop. Please keep this little boy and all of our children in your prayers.

ST PETERSBURG, FL (WFLA) – Police say a St. Petersburg woman forced her son to jump out of a second story window. The woman, 32-year-old Michelle Vail, will be charged with aggravated child abuse. The boy will be taken into DCF custody.

At around 6:38 this morning, officers were called to a second floor apartment on the 300 block of 7th Avenue North.

Vail had made a frightened, distraught call to 911. Officers describe Vail as deranged. She thought there was a serial killer at her door.

“She was saying that….her ex-boyfriend was at the door, that she needed police, that he was coming in,” said St. Petersburg Police Department spokesperson Yolanda Fernandez.

But when officers arrived, they didn't see anybody, and oddly, Vail would not allow the officers to come inside and she started yelling at them.

“When they got here, there was no one here and when they went upstairs, she said, ‘no you're not the real police! Go away! I don't believe you!” said Fernandez when describing what happened.

"She was incoherent, not really making a whole lot of sense,” Major Michael Kovacsev said.

The officers began to leave when they discovered that Vail had a shotgun. Then, they heard her 7-year-old son Oscar screaming and glass breaking. As police tried to get inside, Vail allegedly smashed a window, dropped her weapon and ordered her son to jump.

Moments later, Oscar and his mother were lying on the ground, outside of the second story apartment.

"She told him there was a serial killer coming after them, and she had smashed out the window so he could exit the residence,” Kovacsev said.

The two were immediately taken to a hospital for treatment, but officers say they will be ok.

A neighbor said Vail has only been in St. Pete for a few weeks.

"We were there when she moved in and she just seemed really nice whenever we said hi to each other,” Marge Levy said. "Why would she be pushed to be so scared of something and to go to that extreme?"

"I'm not here to judge or assume anything so I just hope that she's OK," Levy added.

Police said Vail has no criminal history. They aren't sure if she suffers from mental illness or if drugs are involved.

There have been other recent Florida cases of parents harming their children.

John Jonchuck is accused of killing his 5-year-old daughter by dropping her off of a bridge on the approach to the Sunshine Skyway.

Julie Schenecker was convicted of killing her children.

But experts say cases of parents harming their own children are rare.

Psychologist Nekishia Hammond said when children hear these stories they can be disturbing and parents should talk with them.

"You want to be honest with them because they are going to see that they happen, and unfortunately they will happen again,' But with our family here's the ways we show you love, you're safe here, it's okay," Hammond said.

Hammond said it's important to have the discussion in an age appropriate and reassuring way.

"So you want to reassure them that, Some mommies and daddies, not many, but some mommies and daddies do hurt their children, but we don't hurt you. You're safe,'" she said

The 10 Best Nutrition Tips Ever

Eat This, Not That!
November 10, 2014

Diet advice is a lot like fashion. Trends come—wedge sneakers, drop-crotch pants, those skirts that are short in the front and long in the back—and a year or two later they seem hopelessly out of date. But the truly stylish always look smart; you’ll never see a photo of Pharrell Williams wearing crocs or Victoria Beckham in a meat dress. Here at Eat This, Not That! we see the same thing with the lean and fit: Those who stay slim don’t follow diets or nutrition trends. They follow common sense eating strategies that keep them looking fit for life.

Giving up gluten, throwing back shots of apple cider vinegar, juicing everything in sight—try them if you think they make sense. (And if you need a little boost to get you back on track, try our Ultimate One Day Detox.) But when those of-the-moment diet fads are gathering dust in the back of your metaphorical closet, the simple, smart, sensible approaches will be there like a favorite pair of jeans or a perfect little black dress—look-great staples guaranteed to never go out of style.

NUTRITION TIP #1. Hide your weakness.

If you see it, you’ll eat it. If you don’t see it, you’ll still eat it—but not so much. That’s what a study at Google’s New York office, dubbed “Project M&M” found. Office managers discovered that placing the chocolate candies in opaque containers as opposed to glass ones, and giving healthier snacks like nuts and figs more prominent shelf space, curbed M&M intake by 3.1 million calories in just seven weeks. A similar study published in the Journal of Marketing found that people are more likely to overeat small treats from transparent packages than from opaque ones. Out of sight, out of mind, out of mouth.

NUTRITION TIP #2. Use the 1 in 10 rule.

For every 10 grams of carbohydrate listed on the label, look for at least one gram of fiber. Why 10:1? That’s the ratio of carbohydrate to fiber in a genuine, unprocessed whole grain. The recommendation comes from a study published in the journal Public Health Nutrition that evaluated hundreds of grain products; foods that met the 10:1 ratio had have less sugar, sodium, and trans fats than those that didn’t. Getting your fiber-rich whole grains is one of these indispensible 5 Daily Habits That Blast Belly Fat.

NUTRITION TIP #3. Boost flavor to cut calories.

Ever notice how everything inside a McDonald’s—the burgers, the fries, the shakes—smells exactly the same? That sameness of scent is actually a tactic that can inspire you to consume more calories. A study in the journal Flavour found that the less distinctive the scent of a particular food, the more you’ll eat of it. Adding herbs and sodium-free spice blends is an easy take advantage of sensory illusion that you’re indulging in something rich—without adding any fat or calories to your plate. Furthermore, a recent behavioral study that taught adults to spruce up meals with herbs instead of salt led to a decrease in sodium consumption by nearly 1000 mg a day (that’s more salt than you’ll find in 5 bags of Doritos!). Double down on the delicious health benefits by using The 5 Best Spices for Weight Loss.

NUTRITION TIP #4. Chill pasta to melt fat.

You can gain less weight from a serving of pasta simply by putting it in the fridge. The drop in temperature changes the nature of the noodles into something called “resistant starch,” meaning your body has to work harder to digest it. Cold pasta is closer in structure to natural resistant starches like lentils, peas, beans, and oatmeal, which pass through the small intestine intact and are digested in the large intestine, where—well, it gets kinda gross from there on out. A study in the journal Nutrition & Metabolism found that adding resistant starch to a meal may also promote fat oxidation. Suffice it say, colder noodles = hotter you. But you’ve got to eat it cold: Once you heat the pasta up again, you destroy the resistant starch.

NUTRITION TIP #5. Dim the lights to get lighter.

A study of fast food restaurants published in the journal Psychological Reports found that customers who dined in a relaxed environment with dimmed lights and mellow music ate 175 fewer calories per meal than if they were in a more typical restaurant environment. That may not sound like a dramatic savings, but cutting 175 calories from dinner every night could save you more than 18 pounds in a year!

NUTRITION TIP #6. Eat, Don’t Drink, Your Fruit

Juicing may be the rage, but like a certain Mr. Simpson, some juice can do more harm than good—including OJ. Researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health found that people who consumed one or more servings of fruit juice each day increased their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by as much as 21 percent. Conversely, those who ate at least two servings each week of certain whole fruits— particularly blueberries, grapes, and apples—reduced their risk for type 2 diabetes by as much as 23 percent. So stock up on the Best Fruits for Fat Loss and eat them whole.

NUTRITION TIP #7. Eat before you eat.

Eating an appetizer of a broth-based soup or even an apple can reduce total calorie intake over the course of the meal by up to 20 percent, according to a series of “Volumetrics” studies at Penn State. Consider that, according to the Journal of the American Medical Association, the average restaurant meal contains 1,128 calories. A 20 percent savings, just once a day, is enough to help you shed more than 23 pounds in a year.

NUTRITION TIP #8. Choose paper, not plastic.

Here’s a simple way to improve the health of your shopping cart: A series of experiments by Cornell University looked at the effects of payment method on food choice. When shoppers used credit cards, they bought more unhealthful “vice” foods than they did “virtue” foods. Researchers suggest that you’re less likely to impulsively buy junk food if it means parting with a hundred dollar bill than swiping plastic.

NUTRITION TIP #9. Water down the calories.

You’ve been told to drink 8 glasses of water a day, but why bother? Well, what if staying hydrated could strip pounds off your body? According to a study in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, after drinking approximately 17 ounces of water (about 2 tall glasses), participants’ metabolic rates increased by 30 percent. The researchers estimate that increasing water intake by 1.5 liters a day (about 6 cups) would burn an extra 17,400 calories over the course of the year—a weight loss of approximately five pounds! Fill up at the tap and read about the 4 Surprising Secrets of Bottled Water so you stay hydrated the healthy way.

NUTRITION TIP #10. Remind yourself to lose weight.

A recent study published online in Health Promotion Practice found that people who received weekly text reminders of their daily “calorie budget” and motivational emails made healthier meal and snack choices. A simple hack to help you slim down: set up reminders on your smartphone, so when 6 a.m. rolls around, it’s: You make 1200 calories-a-day look so good! And at lunchtime: Salad for the six-pack, baby!

Ri Ri and Lee Lee???

Is this for real or for fake?

Word on the street is that Rihanna and Leonardo DiCaprio are getting close in proximity to each other.

I mean close like, we about to bump uglies close.  You know how Rihanna does it, she puts it doooown!  Just ask Chris Brown.

Leo supposedly threw a bash for Rihanna and this is a picture of them at this bash.

rihanna and leo

I just don’t know how I feel about this potential couple.  LOL.  Both of them can have whoever they want so it’s kind of like meeting your match so to speak.  All I know is if it doesn’t work out, Ri Ri will make a song about it so Leo better watch out.

10 Harsh Truths That Will Improve Your Life Instantaneously | Inc.com

Truth is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with great attention if you want to improve your life instantaneously.

BY LOLLY DASKAL
@LollyDaskal

Everyone wants to make an impact and live a life they can be proud of. But anyone who has ever known success or even been around the block a time or two knows that life comes with some hard realities.

Success takes hard work and commitment, but what happens when luck and success evade us?

Maybe we have to start looking at the hard truths that show us whether we’re standing in the way of our own success.

Maybe what’s needed is to spend some time rethinking, revamping, and restructuring our approach to give us the best chance at moving forward successfully.

Here are 10 harsh truths–they may not be fun to hear or think about, but they can help you improve your life immediately.

1. You can’t control a lot of things–but you can control how you respond.

In life and in business, most things are outside your control. But there is one thing you can always control–and that is yourself, your reactions and ideas.

2. Life isn’t always happy–but there’s value in both the bad and the good.

There is tremendous pressure on all of us to be happy. But life is sometimes difficult and painful. When you let go of the idea that only happiness has value, you can accept life in all its glorious complexity.

3. Nothing lasts forever–and that’s a good thing.

Whatever the situation or emotion, there’s great freedom when you can learn to let go, make the experience a part of who you are becoming, and move on.

4. We can do our best and still fail–and it’s not our fault.

As leaders we have a tendency to be hard on ourselves. But when you let go of perfectionism you can accept that you did your best, whatever the outcome. Hope for the best and expect great things–and if that doesn’t happen, let it go.

5. You’re not everyone’s cup of tea–and that’s OK.

It’s been acknowledged again and again that you can’t please everyone. But if you focus on staying in favor with yourself, you can fly above the approval of others.

6. The past is gone–but you can build a great future on its foundation.

We’re all inclined to spend time analyzing the past. It’s valuable up to a point, but beyond that it’s just a recipe for paralysis. Hold onto what you have learned, let go of any pain, and move forward into the present–and from there, the future.

7. The beliefs of others are not your concern–acceptance is.

Each one of us is unique in our own way, and that is what makes this world so fantastic. What is right for me may be wrong for you–all we can do is to let go of judgment and accept one another for we are.

8. Some people and situations are harmful–and there’s strength in walking away.

Once in a while, you encounter a person or situation that’s just wasting your time, sucking precious resources and energy from your life. It may not be your place to judge, but that doesn’t mean you have to allow toxicity to hold you back. Just leave it behind you.

9. Deceit and games don’t fuel careers–trust is the key.

Business is built on relationships, and like partnerships, marriages, or friendships, trust and authenticity are the key components.

10. Many things you can’t choose, but you have a choice in everything you do.

You can make excuses, blame others, embrace the toxic and wrong–or you can follow a brighter path. It’s up to you.

When you let go of the bad ideas in your life, it’s not about weakness–it’s about realizing that you are important enough to choose well and strong enough to let go of the things that may be holding you back.
